Description
Kalleh-Ghouchi pistachio is one of the famous and commercial cultivars of the country. It was first identified and selected by a person named Haj Ali Sharifi in Dehno village of Rafsanjan city. In general, the name of agricultural products, especially pistachios, is derived from the area of cultivation, the person who first cultivates them, or their shape and size. The name of this pistachio is also because of its shape, which is very similar to the head of a ram.
This pistachio tree is relatively late flowering. This quality pistachio is produced in Iran and has a good yield in Iranian gardens and often in desert areas and its products are market-friendly. Kalleh-Ghouchi pistachio tree has medium growth power and extensive growth habit. The height of this tree and its width is average. This tree is one of the pistachio trees with a large trunk diameter and is second (after hazelnut cultivar) in terms of the volume of cultivation.
This pistachio has a rounder shape than Akbari pistachio. The largeness and weight of Kalleh-Ghouchi pistachio have caused this pistachio to be used in all kinds of luxurious parties and occasions. In addition to its size, the unique taste of this pistachio has made it perfect to be used in cooking, confectionery, ice cream industry, and a variety of other pistachio products. These pistachios are divided into two types in terms of kernel size: a large head and a small head. Coarse pistachios are generally used for exporting or serving nuts because of their large and beautiful kernels. Smaller pistachios are mostly used in ice cream, confectionery, and other industries.
